Metz was the scene of a tragic lynching last Saturday. A 19-year-old, Noahm, was attacked by two men, a 27-year-old and his 20-year-old nephew. The victim was kept alive by machines, but eventually died four days later. The two attackers were arrested and charged with attempted murder and voluntary violence. The legal qualification will certainly change with the death of the main victim. According to Noahm's relatives, the young man was beaten up because of his homosexuality. However, at this stage of the investigation, the homophobic nature of the crime has not been confirmed. This outburst of violence would have occurred 'for a futile reason on the basis of massive intoxication', said David Touvet, the prosecutor. But for the Parisian association STOP homophobia and the Messine association Couleurs gaies, the death of the Talangeois due to his sexual orientation is established. Couleurs gaies has organized a rally this Tuesday evening at the foot of the Merten column, not far from the scene of the drama. A rally in support of Noahm became a moment of tribute (the appointment had been set before the announcement of the death), where some expressed themselves in front of the 250 people present to honor the memory of the Mosellan. Like Nabil, another cousin of Noahm, who was also a victim of homophobic aggression 'two weeks ago in Hagondange'. The 31-year-old man declares in front of the crowd: 'Before being a case or a news item, Noahm was a 19-year-old young man. He had dreams, projects, a family who loved him and a whole life ahead of him.' In the ranks of the anonymous, the second victim of the violence of Saturday morning, who was molested, still presents the stigmata of his aggression. The blue hospital bracelet on his wrist, Idriss (modified name) confides: 'Noahm had a heart on his sleeve. I lived with him in Talange and he took care of our grandparents, our grandmother. He was a sun. He was my cousin but I considered him my little brother.' Naturally traumatized, the 21-year-old man does not want to express himself on this night where everything turned upside down. 'I can just tell you that the things reported in the press, they didn't happen like that. There was no fight, there was no exchanged blows. It was them (the accused) who threw themselves on us, it was us who were hit.'
