Metz has appointed Luc Holtz as their new manager for the next two seasons. At 56, the former Luxembourg national team coach takes the reins of a team that will play in Ligue 2 next season. Luc Holtz has always defended a courageous, ambitious and disciplined style of football. He has spent 25 years on the bench, including eight years at the helm of the Luxembourg club Etzella Ettelbruck. Then, he took charge of the Luxembourg national team from 2010 to 2025. Under his leadership, the Lions Rouges progressed, until they managed to hold the French national team to a draw in September 2017. Luc Holtz won 33 games, making him the most successful coach in the history of the national team. Metz hopes that Luc Holtz can lead them to an immediate return to Ligue 1. The club has also appointed Mario Mutsch, a former Metz player, as his assistant. The fans are skeptical, but Metz president Bernard Serin is convinced that Luc Holtz is the right man for the job. Metz will start the Ligue 2 championship alongside other French football powerhouses like Saint-Étienne, Reims, Montpellier, Sochaux. The French second division has rarely been so competitive, which will limit Metz's margin for error even further. Luc Holtz has never managed a club in the top two divisions of one of the five major European leagues, but he has the necessary experience to succeed. Metz is counting on him to lead them to victory.
